Set in 600 hectares of beautiful natural parkland, Dehesa Montenmedio Golf and Country Club is situated off the main Algeciras road 5 km from Vejer de la Frontera. This gem of a course has one very special feature; the peace and tranquillity that are rarely found on modern golf courses. There are no palatial villas overlooking the greens, no apartment blocks overlooking the fairways. Instead you may be greeted on the first tee by a gaggle of geese that wander from the lake that borders the first fairway.

Address: N-340 E-5, km. 42,5. 11150 Vejer de la Frontera, Cádiz.
Directions: The entrance to the club is at km. 42,5 of the N-340 highway in the municipality of Vejer de la Frontera.

The course is not overly long, 5930 metres, and for both men and women is challenging but not daunting. Players of all handicaps will enjoy the subtle way in which the fairways, lined with oak, pine, olive and acebuche have been teased out of the land rather than constructed with machines. New bunkers and improved teeing areas have been added to both to tighten up the course and improve its appearance. All of the greens are immaculate and in superb condition. Generally they are raised on small plateau that makes it difficult to run your ball on to them. No pitch and runs here, no hard fairways and fast running balls.

You will need to have a good eye for distance and a trusty wedge to get close to the pins. A good tip is to always take one club more than you would normally. The signature hole is the tough par 5 11th, with a narrow fairway, out of bounds down the left hand side, a pond to cross and an uphill finish to a small sloping green.

This is a course where golf blends harmoniously with nature.

Montenmedio has a well-stocked shop in the reception area of the sumptuous clubhouse with multilingual staff. The bar serves snacks and tapas and there is also an adjoining first class restaurant. A modern Cortijo-style hotel is set back from the course and can be booked separately.
