Paraffin Mask (face/hands) is a type of facial, which hydrates and softens the skin and helps to reduce fine lines.

Paraffin wax has been used for health and beauty treatments for many years due to it being an effective medium for heat transfer to the skin and joints. Most beauty salons in Andalucia and especially on the larger towns all along the Costa del Sol as well as inland offer this treatment. The larger hotels along the coast, especially the golf hotels with spas, usually have paraffin masks and massages.

The use of warm paraffin wax on the face, hands and over the body generally, has a very soothing and therapeutic effect. In the form of a warm face or hand mask, the warm paraffin wax applied to the skin makes the blood vessels expand and therefore helps the circulation, bringing healing nutrients to the surface and flushing toxins out of the skin.
The overall effect of a paraffin facemask is a softer, firmer complexion, which is more hydrated. This is a particularly good treatment for anyone with dry skin. It is a luxuriant, relaxing facial, which will leave you feeling and looking fresher and younger.

Used as a treatment on the hands (or feet) can ease painful joints for arthritis suffers or for those with bad circulation. This is a very popular treatment, especially in the colder, winter months, when poor circulation can be more of a problem. It comes highly recommended for anyone who suffers from tennis or golfer's elbow.

Paraffin wax is also used for massage and is equally effective at producing warmth to the skin, to increase the blood circulation all over the body. It can help to ease muscle spasms and relieve stress.

On those few colder days of winter in Andalucia, a warm paraffin wax face or hand pack or a full body massage will help you to warm up and feel relaxed and in summer the heat of the paraffin wax works wonders at hydrating the skin after drying has occurred from the sunshine.
