STARLITE GALA CHARITY EVENT 2010
The first edition of the starlight gala took place in 'Hotel Villa Padierna Marbella' on the 7th August 2010 a platform created by Sandra Garcia-Sanjuan y Maria Bravo to unite the world of business, celebrities and philanthropy and to gather funds to improve the life of communities , families and children without resources in any location.
In this first year, which was by coincidence helped by Michelle Obama's private holiday plans, the Gala raised substantial funds (297.634,38 Euro) for the three charities of the Starlite Gala founders:
Niños en Alegría (99.211,63 euro) founded by Alejandra Alemán and Sandra García. The foundation built the Carlos Alberto Madrazo School in Acapulco, officially opened at the end of 2010 with 258 children attending. Kinder Tierra y Libertad is a centre for more than 100 children in the deprived district of Pie de la Cuesta in Guerrero.
The Eva Longoria Foundation (49.211,65 euro) founded by Eva Longoria has financed 60 programmes of social integration for children and adolescents with learning difficulties.
Lágrimas y Favores (149.211,65 euro) founded by Antonio Banderas, has financed treatment for terminally ill cancer patients through the Cudeca (the Costa del Sol Cancer Care Association), and has created 30 scholarships in conjunction with the Universidad de Málaga.

Eva Longoria and the Starlite Gala
American actress, Eva Jacqueline Longoria Parker (née Eva Jacqueline Longoria; March 15, 1975) is best known for portraying the sultry Latin star of desperate housewives Gabrielle Solis. Longoria married NBA guard Tony Parker in 2007, who accompanied her to the Gala. Eva, not only wore a stunning shocking pink dress encrusted with jewels at the gala, she more importantly wore a smile that radiated throughout the night.
Eva is proud of her Spanish ancestry that can be traced back to her ninth great-grandfather, Lorenzo Suarez de Longoria (born in Oviedo, 1592), who emigrated to the Viceroyalty of New Spain, which became now modern-day Mexico, in 1603, and whose family originated from a small village called Llongoria, Belmonte de Miranda, Asturias, Spain. Longoria is the Castilian spelling of the surname.
At the Starlite Gala collected funds for her charity, Eva's Heroes, which she founded in 2006 to help disabled children. Eva grew up with a sister with learning difficulties, she has lived with the condition first hand, making her a superb ambassador for this very worthwhile cause. Ford kindly donated a car which Eva personally signed on the night.
