Appointed Press Officer of BCC Andalucia

Chris Chaplow, Director of Andalucia Web Solutions, has recently been appointed to the post of Press Officer for the Andalucian Regional Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain (BCC). The BCC has had a long and important history in this country. The organisation will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year and has always had a strong member base in both Madrid and Barcelona, historically the two economic dynamos of Spain.
According to Charlotte Fraser-Prynne, the National Director of the BCC in Spain, the organisation has also grown in popularity in Andalucia. She stated, "In recent years there has been an increase in membership in Andalucia. To support these members the BCC has set up a regional committee." It is as part of this committee that Chris functions as Press Officer, responsible for media relations.
Local events held by the BCC committee in Andalucia have included talks by the mayoral candidates of Marbella who spoke about their visions for the town. Another interesting event was hosted by Mr. Joe Cooper, Director of Trade & Investment for Andalucia, UK Trade & Investment Office, Seville who enlightened his audience about his work to expand British business in the region. Chris and other members also represented the Committee in Madrid where a speech was given by the Denise Holt, CMG, the recently-appointed Ambassador to Spain for Great Britain.

In her speech, Ambassador Holt said she looked forward to help strengthen the very strong commercial ties between the two countries. "The links between the UK and Spain are strong and getting stronger, thanks to close commercial ties between businesses, high levels of tourism in both directions and joint work between governments and authorities at all levels," she stated.
Commenting upon the Ambassador's words, Chris said that her views concerning the close commercial ties between the two great nations fit perfectly with the goals of the BCC. "These are the types of joint opportunities that we at the BCC are striving toward. Our organisation offers an opportunity to network and share our common experiences here in Spain, as both British residents in Spain and also as businessmen and women working here in Spain."
