Buses from Chiclana

Bus from Chiclana to other towns stops at the large roundabout called Plaza de Andalucia in the centro of the town just north of the bridge over the Rio Iro on the old coast road which is now A-9034. There is not a bus station as such but there is a hardstanding for bus infront of Hotel Alboran.

Avanza Portillo bus company run three buses a day from Malaga, Torremolinos, Fuengirola,  Marbella, Estepona and Algeciras to Tarifa and on to La Barca de Vejer, Conil de la Frontera, Chiclana, San Fernando and Cadiz. Route numbers 501 and 530.

 

Urban Bus

There is an urban bus service with 11 lines linking SOLAGITAS - FUENTE AMARGA - PAGO DEL HUMO - EL MAYORAZGO - PANZACOLA - CARBONEROS - LOS GALLOS - LA BARROSA - NOVO HOTELES - HTA.ROSARIO - PINAR DE LOS FRANCESES - Sancti Petri - LA BARROSA - NOVO S.PETRI

RAILWAY

The RENFE train stations nearest to Chiclana are in Cádiz, San  Fernando about 20 minutes drive.  

TRAMBAHIA

The'Tranvía Metropolitano de la Bahía' also called 'Trambahía' opened on 26th October 2022. It had been a long wait since the construction fo the track was completed in 2012. It connects Chiclana, San Fernando and Cádiz, using a train-tram system which permits the units to adapt to running on the standard railway tracks as well as the newer tram lines. The future line still top open is the Cadiz to El Puerto de Santa Maria and jerez and Jerez airport. The current line is called T1, with 21 stops over 24km from Cádiz (Main Central terminus station of Cádiz, Plaza de Sevilla) as far as Chiclana (Pelagatos). The Trambahía has a half-hourly frequency for each train and runs from:
Monday to Friday, from 05:20 hrs to 00:30 hrs.
Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, from 06:21 hrs to 00:30 hrs.

Car Hire

Visit our page on car rentals in Spain to arrange to pick up your rental car at any of the Andalucian airports you might fly into. The nearest airports are Jerez ( half and hour drive) and Gibraltar (One hour drive), Seville (one hour drive) and Málaga 2 hours from drive from Chiclana.

MALAGA AIRPORT

If you are flying in to Malaga Airport you have two bus options to travel to Chiclana.

Take an airport bus to Algeciras and change bus for Chiclana. Consult the airport bus times from Malaga Airport to Algeciras and from Algeciras to Chiclana above.  

Take the airport bus or cercanias train from Malaga Airport to Malaga city Bus Station and then take the direct buses from Malaga City Bus station to Chiclana.  

If your plane arrives too late for the last bus to Algeciras, you would need to take the cercanias train or airport bus from Malaga Airport to the Malaga city Bus Station, and stay overnight in a hotel near the Malaga City Bus Station and then catch the direct bus in the morning.
