Playaballena Spa Hotel, Rota (Cadiz)
In the town of Rota on the Costa de la Luz, near Cadiz city, this large, family-friendly hotel is located on the beach facing the Atlantic. The Hotel Playaballena AcquaPlaya Spa and Wellness Centre uses water treatments at different temperatures for various ailments or simply to help with relaxation.
The Hydrotherapy Centre is split into two areas - Club Acquaplaya and Therapy Zone. In the Club Acquaplaya, you can enjoy the hydrotherapy circuit with water jets at different levels, whirlpools, Turkish bath and sauna, as well as the cold plunge pool and ice cave. The fruit pool is a specialty of the Acquaplaya Centre, which also has a pool with stones which you walk on. In the Therapy Zone, you can choose from seaweed bath, massage (including for tired legs), wrap, scrub, facial, manicure, or a combination. Spa Experience weekend packages are available, which include use of the spa and one treatment, as well as Spa Escape, Sunday to Friday, with use of spa and two treatments.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am-1.30pm, 5pm-8.30pm; winter 4pm-7.30pm (from 1 November). The Acquaplaya is closed on Monday. Note that towels for the spa are charged at 1 euro each. Under 15s only permitted to use the spa in the morning.
