Golf courses in Benahavís municipal district

In Benahavis there are plenty of fun, challenging and prestigious golf courses that both novices and professionals can enjoy.

Marbella Club Golf Resort

In a magnificent setting near Benahavís, surrounded by pine and oak trees, this course is used exclusively by guests staying at the Marbella Club and Puente Romano Hotels, only 20 minutes away. Designed by Dave Thomas it enjoys wonderful views of the mountains and the Mediterranean, and on a clear day Gibraltar and the African coast are clearly visible.

Flamingos Golf at Villa Padierna Golf Club

Los Flamingos Golf has pitched its green fee price at the exclusive end of the range. It is a par 71 golf course. Situated between El Paraíso, Monte Mayor and the Marbella Club Resort, Los Flamingos takes its name from the Los Famencos lake around which Chamberlain & Turner have laid out their 18-hole design. A second Four Seasons Resort is planned to provide accommodation for visiting golfers.

La Zagaleta golf - Los Barrancos

If you are invited to play this strictly private, 18-hole course, the second at La Zagaleta, accept immediately. Nestling in the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda and blending in perfectly with the natural environment, it was created by moving two million cubic metres of rock and earth and constructing a tunnel to reach the new clubhouse.

Club de Campo La Zagaleta golf

Nestling in the hills above Benahavis, La Zagaleta is an exclusive paradise and golfing playground. Set in 1,000 hectares of nature reserve, the complex has been developed with a heliport, equine centre and palatial clubhouse. The course was designed by Californian Bradford Benz, and the club remains strictly private for members and their guests.

Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club

Los Arqueros Golf is an exciting course winding through two valleys that offer impressive views down to the coast. The challenging par 71 golf course was designed by Seve Ballesteros and opened in 1991. The golf the course appeals to attacking players prepared to make bold shots. It is not a particularly long course, but sometimes tight with hazards constantly in play, which may lead to the unaccustomed player being overcautious.

Tramores Golf is the third course at Villa Padierna Golf Club. This course is part of the luxury development surrounding the Villa Padierna Hotel. With a length of 3,486 metres, it is one of the few par-63 courses on the Costa del Sol. Some call it a practice course. It is certainly fast and entertaining to those that play it.    There are some creative designs such as a bunker in the middle of a green. Men and Womens handicap of 48 is the course requirement.

El Higueral Club de Golf in Benahavis

The course, which was inaugurated in 2008, is situated within the Marbella Club Golf Resort and has already attracted many tournaments. Play short on the 1st hole towards the green as the land drops away sharply behind, and as for the 3rd, the green is set on an island edged by black slate so aim for dead centre. On the 4th the dogleg fairway sweeps down to the right to reveal the green sitting on a peninsula. Take care driving off from the 9th tee not to go too much to the left, otherwise the ball will find one of the fairway bunkers.
