On the eastern Costa del Sol, between Torre del Mar and Nerja, Torrox is split into two towns – Torrox Costa and Torrox Pueblo.
Torrox Costa is a resort town which is popular with German holiday-makers and a number of expats. The majority of the holiday apartments are in this part of Torrox – and with its proximity to the pleasure port of La Caleta, and its year-round sunshine (Torrox claims to have the ‘best climate in Europe’), there is a wide range of excellent accommodation to choose from.
A mile or so inland, Torrox Pueblo is a charming Andalucian village (with some modern developments around its fringes) of narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses. Beyond the village, the striking Axarquia region opens out from the coast, home to more picturesque white villages like Sedella, Salares, Canillas de Aceituno and Alcaucin, while beyond that you can explore the mountains and wild natural beauty of the Sierras de Tejeda and Almijara.
