Las Navas de la Concepción started as a dependant village of Constantina half way through the 16th century. Back then, it was known as Las Navas de las Puercas, but the friars from the Order of Saint Basilio gave the town the name we use today. It gained independence by Royal Decree from Isabel II midway through the 19th century.
