San Juan de Aznalfarache is well known in Seville because it was where the headquarters of RTVA (Radio and Television of Anadalucia), also known as Canal Sur, was established. However the town has always been important. During the Roman era the town was known as Osset and had its own currency.
San Juan de Aznalfarache, as well as many other towns close to the province capital, has seen big changes in recent years. This was previously an agricultural town, but everyday it is becoming, more and more, a residential town whose people travel to, and work in, the near by city of Seville.
