New Tinas Bar

New Tinas Bar

by Tony Bryant

New Tina's Bar opened during the tourist boom of the 1960s (formerly known as Shelagh's Bar) and this small bar, still in the original building is popular with tourists. Offering all the usual bottled and draught beers, cocktails, alcopops and shots, Tina's attracts a younger crowd and is particularly busy over the weekends.

Tina's is a good place to party the night away, with great music supplied by the resident DJ, a dance floor and an outside terrace to relax with one of their famous cocktails.

The original bar in the present building was the famous Shelagh's Bar, opened by Sheila Tennant in the 1960s. Shelagh's became known as one of the trendiest bars in Torremolinos. “We sold rum and cokes for 25 pesetas and played songs by The Beatles, The Kinks and all the new music from London and Gibraltar”. The BBC filmed a report about the establishment and an article published in 'Modern Man' magazine added to its fame. Sheilah sold the bar after a couply of years to Tina who logically renamed it Tina's bar. The bar has changed owners several times since then and was renamed the New Tina's bar. The New Tina's bar opens at 20.00 hrs and the party usually continues until 04.00.
