The RENFE Train Station at Málaga Airport is on-site to take passengers to and from the airport with trains normally leaving every 20 minutes for Málaga City  or Fuengirola in the out of town direction.  The Fuengirola train, stops at Torremolinos and Benalmádena as well.

TRAIN Timetable

The train station is equipped with personnel to help you use the machines to buy your tickets. The longest route of 13 stops takes around 35 minutes and runs to Fuengirola at price of 2,70 € .  For those that don't want to take the airport bus, the same train goes into  Malaga City (María Zambrano station and Malaga-Centro Alameda Station).

The 11 minute journey from the airport to Malaga city costs 1,80 €.

These prices are a good thing to keep in mind, because according to staff at the train station, many a foreigner has pressed a button that says “Sobretasa” and ended up paying 7-8 € instead of the actual price. “Sobretasa” is the button to push only if you were caught without a  train ticket and issued a fine by one of the conductors.

First Trains

Fuengirola to Malaga Airport
The first train to the airport from Fuengirola leaves at 06.10 hrs and arrives at Malaga Airport at 06.43 hrs.
****Unfortunately the first train is not early enough to catch the first 15 winter or 25 summer flights out of Malaga airport.****

Malaga City to Malaga Airport
The first train to the airport from Malaga-Centro Alhameda leaves at 05.20 and arrives at 05.32 hrs. There is an earlier Airport Bus

Malaga Airport to Fuengirola
The first train from Malaga airport to Fuengirola leaves the airport at 05.32 hrs arriving at 06.06 hrs.

Malaga Airport to Malaga City 
The first train to Malaga-Centro Alhameda leaves the airport at 06.43 and arrives at 06.56. There is an earlier Airport Bus

LAST Trains

Malaga Airport to Fuengirola
The last train from Malaga airport to Fuengirola leaves the airport at 23.42 hrs arriving Fuengirola at 00.16 hrs.

****Unfortunately the last train is not late enough to catch if you arrive on the last few winter or 20 summer flights into Malaga airport.****

Malaga Airport to Malaga City
The last train from Malaga airport to Malaga-Centro Alhameda leaves the airport at 00.53 and arrives at 01.06 hrs. There is a later Airport Bus

Fuengirola to Malaga Airport
The last train from Fuengirola to Malaga airport leaves Fuengirola at 00.20 hrs and arrives at Malaga Airport at 00.53 hrs.  

Malaga City to Malaga Airport
The last train from Malaga-Centro Alhameda to the airport leaves at 23.30 and arrives at 23.42 hrs. There is a later Airport Bus.

Note:
Trains run every 20 minutes from about 07.00 to 21.00 hrs and half hourly outside this time.
Times are daily including Sundays and holidays.

Where is the Malaga airport train station?

The signs pointing the way to the airport train station are easily missed, due to their neutral colours. Look out for "RENFE" train station signs - RENFE operates almost all trains in Spain. From the Terminal 3 arrivals hall turn right out and into the open plaza. Cross the plaza keeping to the left side and cross the road on the super wide zebra crossing and the station entrance is just 40 metres infront.

If it is raining heavy don't leave the arrivals hall into the Plaza but follow the signs walking round inside to the right to the end of the terminal. Exit by doors at end of building, cross the wide zebra crossing and the and the station entrance is just 40 metres infront.
