Motorcycle drivers must have the appropriate license and insurance at all times, and properly fitted helmets are compulsory on all bikes, even on small motorbikes under 50cc. These drivers are also required to follow all of the same rules set down for any other vehicle driver.
Children under 12 are not allowed on motorbikes.
Of special interest to motorcyclists in Spain is that there is a national movement to change the guard rails on the roads as they cause death and severe injuries to hundreds of bikers every year due to the fact that they are particularly sharp.
