Re: Non resident beneficiaries of a will

As always there is conflicting information on this subject from various third party sites but it appears that there is now a 99% discount after applying the formula for calculating the tax due. This only applies to those in groups 1 and 2.

Re: Non resident beneficiaries of a will

Yes. It will be much cheaper and easier than relying on your UK will. It should refer to Spanish assets only.

If it as simple as you say you should be able to arrange this directly with a notary although you may need a translator if the notary does not speak English.

Re: Comments and queries re FAQ for Non-resident income tax

That is certainly what it says in the link I gave but I prefer to take it a year at a time especially where tax rates are concerned. It was only three or four years ago that they changed the tax rate two thirds of the way through a fiscal yeat so who knows what may happen between now and 2022. As I ...

Re: Andalucia.com FAQ’s

There are a number of threads in the FAQs some written by me and some by Sid. Could you please specify in which thread(s) the links do not work. I know the digital signature one needs updating but there are so many variables and it seems to change from day to day so it is a bit difficult.

Re: Transferring house sale money to UK

If you use use a company like Currencies Direct the money can be paid straight to them by-passing your Spanish bank account and saving several hundred euros in bank charges. Then you can open your UK bank account and have the funds paid into it when you are ready. Currencies Direct hold the money of...

Re: Masmovil. any reports good or bad?

My wife's mobile is with Simyo which uses the Orange network. Very customisable directly from your phone or PC. I looked at Mas and Hits but did not offer the same facilities. Mas has some kind of connection with Jazztel so that ruled them out at a stroke.

Re: Retention return. When to get vocal?

I just thought I would mention that a retention which we applied for on behalf of someone at the end of November last year (2019) has just been paid back into his bank account. Do not believe the stories that it takes a year to eighteen months or never gets repaid at all. If the paperwork is done co...

Re: 10% Deposit for property

I am glad that you are going to insist that the 10% deposit should be paid directly to you. As I said in my previous post, the deposit is yours regardless of the eventual outcome so why should it be paid to a third person?

Re: 10% Deposit for property

The reservation fee is paid to the agent and is refundable if subsequent searches reveal a problem with the paperwork. If you are signing the full contract then the searches etc will have been done and the 10% goes directly to you NOT via the agent or anyone's lawyer. As others have said, you get to...

Re: Modelo 210 - Late Payment

Just pay the tax in the normal way even though it is late. The fact that is after the deadline should make no difference. I have paid non-resident back taxes for people going back three or four years. If it doesn't work with one bank try another. You will subsequently receive a notification to pay t...

Re: Costs to offset CGT

It is a self assessment system so you can claim whatever you like but you must be in a position to justify the expenses you are claiming if you have an inspection by AEAT. I would doubt that a new boiler would be accepted because this would be classed as maintenance rather than an improvement. Solar...

Re: Using lawyer recommended by agent

Rather than a survey it is preferable to ask a good and trusted builder to come and have a look at the property. Obviously this will have to be on the recommendation of local people because you will not have had time to get to know anyone yet. Do not use the agent's lawyer. You do not have to use a ...

Re: ITV Documents

It only asks you to search for a an ITV centre when there are no appointments available for the one you usually use. The Mijas one is a bit odd. I already have an appointment for the end of March but the calendar appears not to go that far forward now. Only a few days ago there were no appointments ...

Re: ITV Documents

I went to Mijas ITV again today. It was the same as last time. No space in the car park and standing room only in the reception room but I was in and out again well within the appointed time. The appointments for week-ending 21st March have now virtually gone and ones for week-ending 28th March are ...
