Paradores

We received an email yesterday informing us that paradores are closed. We have a one night booking in April and the standard terms are you lose one nights fee if you cancel. We are only staying one night. Anyone know if they’ve changed their “standard” conditions?

Sadly looks as though won’t be using that any time soon. Better news is that the Madrid hotel on plaza mayor has allowed me to cancel at zero cost, when the terms were no refunds.

Re: Coronavirus

That was a brilliant story Manchesteral. Friends in the UK said that they will be going to the local village shop and the farm shop for food, as it was like a riot in the supermarket. If one good thing comes from this it may support small local food businesses. I've always had a large store cupboar...

More than "a problem". You will not be able to rent it without a LFO.

Potencia change

I have logged in to my endesa account, gone to contract and clicked the relevant change fields to reduce my potencia. I thought this would be activated online but a note comes up saying my request has been submitted.

Anyone know how long it takes?

Re: DELPASO Car Hire – A cautionary tale.

Just two of us 6' 1" and 5' 2", went just fine - even up steep slopes. In fact better than the 1 litre corsas we've had in the past.

Yes i wouldn't book it with 4 people - there wouldn't even be space for the cabin luggage!

Re: DELPASO Car Hire – A cautionary tale.

Just back from a very sunny and hot 8 days yesterday. Rented through doyouspain.com using OK renta car at malaga airport. €7.60 for the 8 days. We got a lovely little fiat 500, photo'd all the minor scratches, declined their insurance (with no fight back), prepaid for a tank of petrol and drove off....

Re: Non resident beneficiaries of a will

I remember posting on here about Spanish inheritance law being a minefield. Seems ok from Husband to wife etc. . As the law has changed I think. Myself and 5 other relatives inherited from an Aunt. We were 6 Cousins and nephews/nieces. The worse thing was unlike the UK where taxes and debts come ou...

Re: Speeding Fine

When I arrived back in the UK i discovered 2 letters informing me of offences committed driving up to Bilbao.

As i recall i entered the date of the offence on the notification. All went through ok , even with discount besides being outside the discount date window.

Re: Why some Spanish Bank Accounts are being blocked

I’m with Unicaja and they’ve just unilaterally introduced 2 factor authorisation so to even see my balance I have to enter a code texted to my mobile. Of course they didn’t give any reasonable warning so here I am unable to see any and all transactions. They do have a mobile number because I use it ...

Re: DELPASO Car Hire – A cautionary tale.

If they find a scratch we just claim on the annual insurance. We do take photos but if the insurance will pay anyway i wonder of its worth it. Delpasso gets horrid reviews. Budget outfits like Record, Goldcar and OK rentals have cleaned up their acts recently but Delpasso seems stuck in the dark age...

Hmm, thanks for that. Its about time they did this. I guess the May tickets will be on sale March 1st or thereabouts. Hopefully they'll do the same on the Caminito of which 90% must go to agents and hotels.

Valley of the Fallen

So, i understand that Franco's body has been exhumed. But using the same logic (that the edifice should truly be a memorial to both sides in the civil war) why is Primo de Rivero still effectively lying in state as founder of the Falange - a movement dedicated to creating a right wing dictatorship a...
