Re: Coronavirus

We made a trip to our nearest carrefour this morning to buy some towels and on leaving the store with three bath towels draped over my arm a woman entering stopped, stared at me and I swear you could see her thinking "Towels! I didn't realise I needed towels, I'd better buy some before they sel...

Re: Hire car had a puncture

On our way back to Spain from the UK in September I ran over something on a French road that did not puncture, but damaged the sidewall on one of my front tyres. Not wishing to put on the "space saver" spare for motorway driving I called at a garage advertising the Continental tyres I had ...

Re: Bottled gas - how does it work?

For peace of mind once you have a full bottle, before you use it have a look at the rubber hose that connects to your bottle, it will have a "use by"date stamped on the outside. The hose needs to be changed every 5 years and it's also a good idea to change the regulator at the same time. T...

Re: Cartama? Alora?

We have only ever visited Alora once around 12yrs ago whilst we too were deciding on somewhere to settle.
The main thing that put us off the place is that it has very steep hills, something to consider if you are planning on growing old there, or your knees are not what they once were.

Re: El Gordo — How does it Work?

To win over 1m you need to spend at least 60 euros buying 3x20euro decimos of the same number. The "big gordo" prize is 4m euros, so each decimo wins 400.000. There are also big prizes for 2nd 1x 1,250,000, 3rd 1x 500,000 4th 2x 200,000 and 5th 8x 60,000 (all decimos with the winning numbe...

Re: Spain v England 15th October

I'm a season ticket holder at Sevilla fc, so I'm not one for visiting the "other" stadium, this will be my 1st visit. There wil no doubt be street parking close to the ground if you get there early enough, or you can do what i'm doing which is parking in my usual place under the Hotel Novo...

So here is the short version (This was 4 or 5 years ago) Plaza De Espana 1st visit Arrived early morning and joined the que...

Re: Electricity Cables

If it's an older property do not assume that blue = neutral, brown = live etc. In my experience it all depends on what bits of wire the person doing the original job had to hand and there is no guarantee that the colour of wire used at one end of the circuit matches the colour at the other. Before w...

If you look on the link provided by Paulinmalaga it would appear that the "magic" box they are flogging for €250 is simply the VU+ Zero linux based satellite receiver. NOT as they state "Our newest product designed by us and exclusive" A quick search finds that they are available...

Torremolinos & the paseo maritimo mystery

We visit Torremolinos around once a month for lunch and a walk along the seafront. We have noticed on our last few visits that finding a free parking spot on the paseo maritimo is becoming almost impossible. I could understand it if we visited on a weekend during high season, but today for example w...

The doc who did my last DL medical also found my blood pressure to be on the high side. There was no problem in passing me fit to drive, he simply gave me a prescription for tablets to treat it.

Re: Ferry to Spain

Be aware that if you want a pet-friendly cabin they are usually fully booked months in advance. The other alternative is that the dog stays in a kennel with opportunities for owners to visit for feeding, walks etc.
