Help

Postby Sinclair » Tue Mar 31, 2020 8:04 pm

Hi all, please can somebody help. I have an elderly relative who lives alone in Fuengirola. He hasn't been contactable since Thursday night. Who do I call or contact? I realise the Police is the obvious choice but I tried the local one and couldn't get through? Is there an obvious hospital that he may have been taken to? Is this even a possibility at this time in Spain? Thank you all for any advice.

Hi Sinclair,
Hopefully a Forum Member living in Fuengirola will see this Post and contact you by PM and arrange to pop round to check on your elderly relative.

Thank you for replying Enrique, I wouldn’t ask anyone to do that,I really want to know what I should be doing to report this from the UK, I have lots of info if I was in Spain but I am struggling to navigate Official channels due to the current world situation. I would have normally hopped on a plane and gone straight to him. I am trying lots of other avenues and this was a last roll of the dice moment. Thank you.

Assuming you and your relative are British you could try the British Consulate in Malaga:

Thank you Beachcomber. I did contact the British consulate (we both are British) but all they did was give me missing persons contacts based in the UK. Thank you for the number though, I will try them again.

The town hall might be the place to try. http://www.fuengirola.es. The contact for the Foreigners department is [email protected] 952 58 93 00. Social Services 952 58 25 44, 952 46 70 44, 952 46 35 25. The Mayor's office is 952 58 93 10. Good luck.
Brian.

Good morning Sinclair,
You would hope the "Official" channels would work............But.

You need to get on Social media.........i.e. Facebook search for.............. "Fuengirola Social Group" and other Groups in that Town

Unless your relative was living like a hermit someone will know him

" I wouldn’t ask anyone to do that"...........you need to

A small suggestion for you Sinclair, get him to forward to you his full address AND telephone number of the building/community administrator and portera/portero, janitor, they usually have a little cubbyhole/office with a direct line to the administrator in case of further problems.
