The fire is still burning at the top of Calahonda, From my terrace I can see flames from the red flats at the top Calahonda. It looks as if terrace furniture has caught alight on a few balconys, just hope there are no casualties.
Only seen one firefighting plane this morning, guess resources are stretched with the extent of the fire.

The planes are very active and flying right over my house very low. Lots of them. It is too cloudy to see anything on the mountain.

The fire is close to where we lived. Reports of 2 people badly burnt in El Rosario which was only minutes away. Lots of photos and videos on the web. A friends says it is around the buildings at the top of Calahonda and La Cala golf hotel has been evacuated.

About four posts back follow the Mail on line link - looks bad too.

I'm in the campo above Torrox Costa, so a long way away, last night the sky over Mijas was blood red smoke, frightening.

You can follow the progress online on the Sur website. 15 minute updates. It looks like it is slowly coming under control but the main problem at the moment is stopping it moving up into the protected areas - which luckily are not well populated.

There's talk it may be a scam - the animal rescue group I belong to on facebook are checking it out - will let you know if I find out anything.

Edit: It is genuine, I have it on good authority

I was involved with an animal rescue centre.
Never heard of that one. No hits on Google. I'm sure that if the story was true there would have been some mention of it on the news.
Cheers

I think it also demonstrates the need to be careful about what you 'share' on facebook.
You can spend, minutes, hours, days, weeks or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened - or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the f**k on.

Any update on the fire please? The BBC appears to have stopped updating.
