White "L" on a green background square

Postby zanuck » Sun Sep 28, 2014 4:58 pm

Can someone tell me what a sign in the back window of a car means?

It's a white capital "L" on a green background square about 15cms square.

It looks like a UK "L" plate, but................?

Thanks - Z

The driver has just past his driving test and has to display the L plate for 6 months, I think.
During this time his maximum speed is limited to 80 KPH, I think.
Somebody else will correct the "I thinks"
Cheers

It should be displayed for 12 months. Since 2011 new drivers can circulate at the same speed as other cars, however alcohol limit is reduced to a maxiumum of 0,15 for the first 24 months, and they only have 8 points on their driving license

I thought of that, but it seems too obvious; isn't there also a sign with a "P"?

Spanish driving school vehicles display a blue plate with a white L and the word ‘Practicas’. After drivers pass the test they have to display a new driver plate, which is green with a white L.

I'm sure that I have seen in the past driving school cars with a P "practicas" plate, perhaps the regulations have now changed to the L on the blue background??

While we're on the subject :!:

Have seen plates with initials SP in black on a white rectangular background with a black outline - What does this signify :?:

The SP plate signifies "servicio publico" a public service vehicle used to carry passengers with a driver engaged in paid employment. eg taxis or vehicles such as hotel/airport shuttle mini buses.
