Who offers the lowest PAYG mobile plans?
We have just ordered a Sim from Lobster who of course are all English speaking if you have a PAYG with them, but the lowest monthly cost is 10.99 euros for a Spanish only text and calls plan. I have the international package at 12.99 euros per month.
Does anyone know of anything cheaper since hubby only needs a very basic calls and text call plan. He has never had a mobile before and hasn't a clue about technology but we wanted him to be able to contact someone if the worst happens and he doesn't know what has happened to me or the rest of the family if we are out together. He doesn't know anyone really in the village and he doesn't speak Spanish. In the UK we had a landline but here there are very few and we won't be having one. We have bought him a big numbered mobile phone, very basic, just for answering calls and to call 2 or 3 programmed numbers, but as I say the lowest plan we could get him was 10.99 a month. Anything cheaper around?

Re: Cheapest Mobile PAYG plans
We both have Digi and pay €5 a month for their combo 5. It's payg so you top up and the €5 comes off your balance every month. You get 100 international minutes mobiles included plus loads of data.

Re: Cheapest Mobile PAYG plans
Went onto Trust Pilot to take a look at their reviews and they are horrendous Sounds like you might just be one of the lucky ones. Most say their CS is absolutely rubbish if you have any problems which it seems many do. Good luck !
Re: Cheapest Mobile PAYG plans
That is strange. We've never had a problem and found them to be excellent. We have a few friends here who use them as well and again never a problem. I didn't check reviews but will have a look now but I can only speak form our own experiences and I can't think what could go wrong. I phone my Dad in Ireland every week using the 100 free minutes and as my wife doesn't use hers I use it to phone Dad (we speak for about 30 minutes a week lol).
Never had a problem with data either so can't understand what problem people could have.

We have two PAYG sims, one Orange and one Movistar. Movistar is the best I think. As we have a poor mobile phone signal (and no landlines) at our house we do not really use them as phones so I do not have any sort of contract with them, just paying a minimum of 5€ each 6 months in order to keep the number.
We use the phones at home on wifi and use Whatsapp all the time, but we have some credit if we do need to make an emergency call when we are out for example.
This is what I have with Movistar, no monthly contract:
Tarifa Habla 6
PVP: 6 cts/min
Solo llamadas nacionales a fijos y móviles a 6 cts/min. Establ. de llamada: 30 cts (IVA incl). A partir del 14/ene/2025, el establecimiento de llamada: 55 cts (IVA incl)
En roaming, llama con las mismas condiciones de tu tarifa nacional .
The cheapest monthly PAYG rate is 10€pm, Prepago Plus. https://www.movistar.es/tarifas-moviles ... ation=page
For me this works well as I can buy 1GB of data when I need it for holidays at a cost of 2€ for 7 days, otherwise I never need data. I think we only use the mobile phone to make a phone call about once a year!

Re: Cheapest Mobile PAYG plans
Well my daughter was with Lobster after changing from someone else and she likes it because they are all English speaking and recommended we go with them too. Although the 12.99 per month seems quite expensive, if you have your fibre with them they knock off 5 euros a month so you are paying 7.99 per month but for hubby we just needed a phone he could ring one of us on if we were out and he was worried about us or if we needed to ring him to say we were going to be late. He is very deaf and so doesn't use a mobile anyway normally so I thought 5 euros a month really was enough for him for what he needs to use it for.Wicksey wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 11:00 am We have two PAYG sims, one Orange and one Movistar.
