Sorry, Campo, I was too envious of the jelly you were served up with, to mention your suckling pig

I noticed someone else has already suggested stuffed cherry tomatoes but don't limit them to one filling. They can be fiddly and time consuming though so get a few people to do a small plate each.

end of April
You still have time to make some pickled eggs...we do this with the small quails eggs and color some using beetroot for red and saffron for yellow... young and old love them and look so nice...and don´t take up fridge/freezer space :)

Oh Silver used to do the quail eggs back in the UK as we kept quail, my youngest daughter loved them when she was small, they were just the right size for a little mouth. Ostrich eggs had her baffled tho

Prunes wrapped in smoked bacon is rather nice too

Another easy one is mushrooms stuffed with pate and dipped in a spicy batter and deep fried.

As she grows up to have a normal adult female sized 'Gob' she will manage to fit a couple of these in too.

Re Party food

Get a grapefruit, stick some cocktail sticks in it and fix little cubes of cheese on the ends.

Did this at our last party, went down a storm.

Someone beat me to it (think it was Rick?) - dates in bacon, mmmmm. Try to buy "deshuesado" dates, it's a sticky business getting the stones out otherwise.
If in season, pimientos de padron (the little green peppers) are a lot of fun as you never know which ones are going to blow your brains out until you try - it's like playing Spanish/Russian roulette!

All the supermarkets here sell dates in bacon in a packet ready to heat. Weren't they called devils on horseback in the UK?

Paula, try this, Strips of filo pastry about three inches wide lay them lengthways and put in a teaspoonful of crushed feta and a little cooked spinach, next turn them corner to corner (to make a triangle) over and over till you have a complete triangle consisting of several layers of filo, brush with butter and bake in the oven 200c for 8-10 mins you can make them in advance as they last for days in the fridge, serve at room temp with a smidgeon of chilli sauce (linghams if you can find it :)
Ah! the full english!!

Thanks all for the good ideas and recipes.

Retro, being as I had the ingredients to hand I tried those filo parcels ( I say parcels as mine didn't resemble triangles to start with!) . Very good.
My chilli sauce was not linghams, but worked all the same. :)

Silver, thankyou for asking, it was wonderful.

73 people in my house and garden  The weather was fantastic, after worrying through the previous rainy Sundays.
It was a surprise party for a very dear friend who got the all clear in Jan after a 6 year battle with cancer. A number of us clubbed together for a gift trip to New York, she flew off today!!

5 bbqs going in my garden, didn't you smell the sausages?
