Restaurants in Cortes de la Frontera

Postby KarenD » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:23 pm

Hi

We are having a 2 night break in a finca in Estacion Cortes de la Frontera in a couple of weeks time. We were looking forward to having an evening meal at El Gecko but understand they have closed. Can anyone recommend any good restaurants in the area?

Thanks

Karen

Hi Karen

Yes unfortunately Bill and Max have had to move from El Gecko, such a shame.

We really like MESÓN LOS ALCORNOCALES. On the left hand side just before the school when leaving the the village on the Benaoján Road. Offering typical Serrano dishes.. Try the Cortes speciality of veal, ternera cortesana. In the autumn, look out for fresh game such as jabalí (wild boar) on menus in the town's restaurants. Also available is locally produced cheese, honey and cured ham
I have also found a website for the village: http://www.cortesdelafrontera.es/es/Tur ... taurantes/

If you go further afield ESTACIÓN DE JIMERA DE LIBAR there is QUERCUS Tel 952 18 00 41 Excellent rustic local cuisine and fine wines. An option for this restaurant is to park your car by the railway station in Estacion de Cortes de la Frontera take the train to Estacion de Jimera de Libar have a leisurely lunch and catch the train back to your car. The trains only run a few time a day to and from the coast to Ronda so it would be a peaceful as well as beautiful walk. Check opening hours. Tel 952 18 00 41

You could also take the train one more stop to Estacion de Benaojan and go to MOLINO DEL SANTO
www.molindelsanto.com.
The restaurant at the Molino del Santo Hotel restaurant has a terrace set alongside the river and its mountain views and a dining room. The menu varies throughout the year, depending on the season, a wide selection of local produce is used, and the Spanish specialities include Benaoján´s famous sausages. Vegetarian and a children’s menu are available.

The bar area offers a variety of drinks, including a wide range of Andalucian sherries and a selection of snacks. Afternoon tea, complete with delicious home made cakes, can be taken on the terrace every day. Worth contacting for reservation can be very busy and closed for some time in the winter. Tel 952 16 71 51

Hope these suggestions are a help.

Have a good holiday.
