Re: Town Frier Puente don Manuel
I remember the chippie that we used when I was in short trousers - near The Propellor pub close to Croydon Airport - used to serve Rock Salmon. It was only later that I discovered this was an up-market name for that really ugly fish - dogfish! Believe me, if you saw the fish rather than the filleted portion, you would go vegan.

Went to Lews today for lunch. It was pretty quiet when we arrived at 2pm with four other customers. It took 45 minutes to get our order. Not impressed by that.
The fish was good and with very crisp batter - almost Tempura. Chips were very limp.

Stopped going to Lew's not for the service but the football and soggy chips - Fish fine,. We think they might water down the tatare too.

Funny you should say that - the Heinz ketchup looked an odd shade of red!

We went a few days back - had the sunday roast meal. Food ok and service "matey" rather than slick.
Puddings were best feature, and this from one who usually has starter & main rather than sweet.
More Dunlop than Michelin IMHO.
Perhaps because Lew runs Malaga Car Parts as well?

If I was the owner of Lews I would love to see all these comments in this thread to put things right and keep customers happy.

Re: Town Frier Puente don Manuel
There were lots of times we were asked "is everything alright?" during the meal, but as we all know this is a long way from asking for an honest opinion about how they could do better, particularly as they seemed such a nice family.

Re: Town Frier Puente don Manuel
Just had an excellent meal at the Town Frier.
Haddock was superb - thick fish lightly battered served with the freshest possible Chips and ´proper´ Mushy Peas. Only mistake was that I ordered a large portion which was far too much - Hubby was more sensible and chose the small portion which was more than enough. We washed this down with a bottle of extemely drinkable Antaño Rioja Rosé and managed to find room for one (very large) portion of Strawberries and Cream between us. We finished with Coffee that was served in separate Cafetières (normal for Hubby, De-Caf for me). Whole bill €25.40 - and because we had gone over €25 we were surprised to find that we were given a second bottle of the same Wine to take home with us.
Service was very good and staff extrmely pleasant.
Obviously other people enjoy the food here too as every table was taken as well as a constant Take Away service.
A very pleasant evening and one that we will be repeating very soon.

Re Town Frier - perhaps someone could mention to the young man who serves at the tables that if he strokes a customer's dog he should wash his hands before buttering and serving bread slices?
