Swedish Weekend 20-21st November
Finnish Weekend 27-28th November

• The two weekends will see Christmas celebrated in typical Scandinavian style
• Santa Claus, concerts, processions, gastronomy, a Christmas market and version original movies
• Typical Scandinavian games for children and local schools will take part

The Parque Miramar Shopping Centre is celebrating a rather Scandinavian Christmas this month with two weekends dedicated to Scandinavian culture and Christmas festivities.

The weekends form part of a calendar of events that the Parque Miramar organizes each year to present the different cultures that reside here on the Costa del Sol.

On Friday 20th and Saturday 21st of November the Viking Swedes land to take over the centre for a weekend of fun, film and frolics. The weekend, organized in conjunction with Swedish newspaper Sydkusten, will host a series of seminars on Friday, with the local Swedish community taking part in discussions on Spanish culture from a Swedish perspective and living in the local community.

During the afternoon there will be a cocktail and wine tasting, courtesy of the Swedish Bodega Enkvist Wines of Gaucín, and for Swedish film buffs the hugely successful Swedish film Millennium will be showing in version original at 3pm.

On Saturday there is a Grand Christmas Bazaar with typical Swedish products from local businesses and associations. Musical duo Marco Rios, a church choir and a beautiful Christmas procession will fill the centre with music and joy throughout the afternoon.

Hot on the heels of the Swedish weekend, comes Finland; on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th November, the local Finnish community will re-create the magic of Finland at Christmas, expect to enjoy a beautiful weekend of Finnish culture - music, fine food and beautiful designs.

Organisers, Uusi Fuengirola, will be organizing a series of activities for children with a traditional Finnish Santa Claus on hand to brighten any child’s weekend. Speciality Christmas treats and foods will be available to taste and to buy and a typical hot Finnish Christmas punch will be served to warm up even the coldest November afternoon.

Finland is passionate about its music and this will be reflected across the weekend with performances from the local Finnish school of Fuengirola, a local singer and a magical musical choir.

Definitely the highlight of the weekend for the Finnish community is the appearance on Friday of the famous Finnish singer, Jari Sillanpää, who will be signing autographs and promoting his new album. Definitely not one to miss, expect lots of fans, both from Spain and all the way from Finland!
