Help needed - cleaner/caretaker

Postby vickyg » Fri Feb 21, 2014 9:01 am

Hi, I'm new to the site today - we have a lovely 4 bed house with pool in Lora de Estepa and need to find somebody to keep an eye on it for us and get it ready for the odd holiday let - I'm not sure where to look or advertise, I've asked the few English people I know and the estate agent - any suggestions please?

Good evening Vicky. There are a couple of free magazines that are aimed at expats, they can be picked up at Saydo hotel in Mollina. You might find help there.
There is a 'brit' market there on Wednesday mornings, that might be a good place to begin looking/asking.
Welcome to A.com too.

Hi Oliver
Thanks for your reply - unfortunately we aren't due back until July and I need to find somebody sooner than that. I'm not sure where to look or advertise now!
Thank
Vicky

Please tread carefully. I advise you read a thread here called 'Nightmare in Spain'.

I in no way wish to scare you but you should be aware of what can happen. People can often seem fine but please do everything in the correct way.

I am constantly amazed at people I meet offering me their keys not knowing who I am just because I'm British. I decline, but there are baddies everywhere waiting to take advantage.

Best wishes.

Hi
Thank you for your comments; could anyone tell me the names of the 2 free Mags that are aimed at ex-pats? There must be somewhere I can advertise or people are advertising - I really thought there must be people out there looking after holiday homes.
Thanks again.

As far as I know the only other people other than yourselves with a holiday home/2nd home in lora de Estepa are "well off" Spanish families who live in Estepa.
These houses are not rented out but used and looked after by themselves only.
You must be aware that this area is well off the usual tourist route. Over the 9yrs we have lived in Estepa I have never heard of anyone locally providing the service you require.

Your best bet would be to have a word with your neighbours, perhaps one of their sons/daughters would welcome a bit of extra spending money?

Lora de Estepa to Estepona is 174km...............long way to travel for cleaning job :?:
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.
