Smelly aircon

Postby Jenny1960 » Fri Jul 05, 2019 10:36 pm

Can anyone explain why my aircon sends out a smell of drains throughout my villa? Its only about 4 years old so still relatively new. I’ve had it on 24/7 for 3-4 days thinking it may clear out the system but to no avail. Any help appreciated please. TIA

Good morning jenny1960,

Plenty of info on the web..............

https://bouldenbrothers.com/why-does-my-ac-smell-bad/

If there is no smell (blocked drains )outside the villa then an engineer needs to sort out the possible gas leak.........ASAP
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Have you cleaned the filters out. That is one of the 1st jobs the engineer will do. That may clear it for you with out calling anyone out.

As Costakid says. Moisture builds up, so do the bacteria and the whiff will be blasted out at you; 24/7. It's a common "to do" with aircon, including cars. I had it with my wheely-mobile AC. Removed the gauzes etc and gave them a good clean, not with bleach-based but EDTA-containing anti-bacterial cleaning fluid. Problem sorted, without expense.
