Self contained power supply

Does anyone have or know of a property powered solely by sun, wind, generator with battery storage? How satisfactory is it; any pitfalls; where did you get the battery storage equipment and rough cost.

Many thanks

This company was recommended to me by another member and friends have since used him:

Grupo RCL (Edwin) just outside Ronda. He has a PV solar system up and running which you can go and see and also stocks everything you need for DIY installation, inc batteries and back-up gennies.

Contact telephone numbers are 952874195 or 656836777

Thanks Cid.....such an interesting article from someone who speaks from experience.

Also found Louise Livingstone's other site on astrology, plus La Chispa publication, which is right up my street.

Muchas gracias.

I agree with your point of view, I know many will not. You say you have solar power, this is something I am looking into for when our property is ready, can you tell me more about what size you have and what it will run.
Sorry to change the subject.
Many thanks.
This was a previous thread on the topic.
I have 2 panels, a 150amp/hour solar battery and an inverter to give 220 volts. Also a gas-powered generator fo more substantial use.
The solar rig runs the lighting, laptop and sewing machine, and could runs more if I needed - even the washing machine if you don't use the cold-fill. The generator is for when I need bigger power tools, and for topping up the batteries when it rains for three weeks non-stop.
Someone also posted a link to a wattage calculator, but I can't find it again. Help, please?
Slainte,
JohnP.

Hi Chicdiz,

We´ve got 2 houses that runs on Solar power, You´re welcome to come and have a look (We´re in Vejer) if your interested. We run all normal household appliances from it. I can also put you in touch with a guy who imports panels, batteries etc from Germany and works out a lot cheaper than many of the Spanish suppliers.

I recently (yesterday) heard of good panels from morocco which are also re-cycled and cheaper than Spanish ones. More info when I get it.
