Intelsat I907 reception problem
Was working fine at 1pm but when I turned it on at 4pm it was breaking up badly with a much lower signal.
It's not my setup as it was aligned last week and my installer has confirmed that other customers have the same problem. His suggestion is that they might be about to change the codes as in the past, the signal has dropped for a day or so prior to the change. I personally doubt that as they haven't changed for a couple of years, so why would they do it now.
It could be a (hopefully temporary) problem with the satellite or just maybe they are starting the satellite replacement process which usually involves moving them around (with effects on the signal) prior to the changeover.
Has anyone else been affected?

Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
Sid just saw this as I was on the phone to a friend in Estepona and they say all OK.
Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
Just switched the TV on and a very good picture and strong signal.

Yes we are having the same problem. Went bad maybe an hour or so ago.after last week when we lost the signal (my previous thread) it came back and upto now its been fine so wondered if it was a continued issue from that. Seen an odd post on nerja f.book group aswell.people having the same issue.but others with bigger dishes and boxes other than icecrypt say no problems
*edit* other posts on f.book from almunecar with the same issue

1.5m dish and GI HD box in Estepona and good reception.
Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
Back on for me
Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
We've got a GI box and a smaller 80cm dish but we've not had any problems Could it be your satellite box that's the problem?

Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
No, it was a problem, but is now back to normal. It only lasted for a few hours and unless you were watching afternoon TV you would not have noticed it. I have the radio on most of the time so I tend to spot it more quickly.
It might just be an indication of possible changes so keep an eye on your signal readings. Make a note of what they are at the moment so you have something to judge it against.
Let’s hope it was just a one off. Thanks for all the feedback.

Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
If I'm not mistaken, did SatandPCman not say, a long time ago, that the satalite had run out of fuel and no further positional changes could be made and eventually it may go off line permanently. That was the reason I have avoided using it!.
Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
Correct. It will be replaced one day but as long as it continues working I shall continue using it.
The replacement might or might not have BBC etc on it.

The satellite will be replaced when it expires. There is very little chance of that not happening as so many other organisations use it.
You can see the list here https://www.lyngsat.com/Intelsat-907.html
Whether the BBC etc. choose to continue with the service is up to them and has very little to do with the satellite itself.

I have no signal on my box either. Got no signal displayed when I tried it last night and it is the same today, was ok on Saturday when I last used it. The signal strength is showing at 37%, with signal quality about 10%. Thought it might be cable problem, but have checked it and seems ok.

Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
Apart from during the rain today, mine has been running at full signal strength. Last night it dropped out as around 10 and there was a clear sky.

Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
From what I have heard no replacement has yet been announced, but then why should they have to announce it to the public, they only have to tell their customers. eg the likes of Arqiva who run the Satback service.
Signal levels for me are what I remember them being in the past. Good and steady signals.
Could be slightly out of alignment, and maybe in a day or so they do a spot of station keeping with whatever fuel they have left.
Not too sure why they would drop the signal levels for a transponder just to change a BISS codes... you do not see that happening on other encrypted service...for example Sky change their codes every 6.5-7 seconds...
Wonder if there are any solar flares happening....???
Or some weird local interference...?

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

Some weird problems this evening. The signal keeps going off and returning within a few minutes. Clear sky. Signal strength goes from normal to very low or zero and back again. No breaking up - just on or off. It's not the receiver as the Astra channels are fine.

Yes, it seems to be back to normal now since about 8.30. Very odd!

Re: Intelsat I907 reception problem
Kind of weird as today have had two people call asking if the codes have changed as they have been having issues with the system today...
now if the codes have changed then this forum thread would be very busy , and my emails would be full, but yes, it sounds like something weird is happening every so often.... but what i have no idea... maybe solar flares or some other interference...???
