Whatsapp on L G phone

Hi al,l'm as I'm a bit of a phone / computer illiterate I'm seeking an answer to the following question. I'v been using a very satisfactory L G K5 phone for the last 2½ years, I don't use it as much as many others do but nevertheless I probably use it at least 3/4 times a week, I've noticed that when I go to the whatsapp facility it now says "from facebook" what's happening here, should I be doing something in settings ? my phone bill also appears to be much higher than usual, any help for me ? thanks Al .

Facebook bought Whatsapp a while ago.
Whatsapp uses data so it should not affect the phone calls part of your phone bi

When using mobile data set to......... No Media

When roaming set to....... No media

You could also go into your phone settings and data and restrict the background data of the app. Presume you have a pay as you go?

Until Manchesteral says which phone provider and which tariff he is on it is difficult to advise precisely.
I have a contract with Vodafone and the data used by Whatsapp is not deducted from my monthly data allowance.
So all totally free.

When I said "So all totally free." I was refering to the fact that the data usage does not come out of my data allowance.
