A text has arrived in Spanish from Intrum.com/es saying I have a debt: "Usted teine una DEUDA con INTRUM pendiente de pago. Ponganse en contacto con nosotros en el tel 900107553 o entre en portal.intrum.com/es"
I think it has come through on a new Movistar SIM I have recently bought and no-one knows this number as it is just a spare Spanish SIM for emergencies. It is a genuine company but I am wondering how I have got spam, if this is what it is, on a brand new number, although I did have to give my NIE to buy it.
Has anyone else had anything like this? On Googling there is a mix of comments, some saying it is genuine and some saying it is just Spam.
SMS from Intrum
Re: SMS from Intrum
It certainly sounds like potentially dangerous spam. Delete it and don't click any links. Then forget all about it.
Re: SMS from Intrum
Unfortunately the phone won't let me block their number. It says 'their phone number isn't valid' for setting it to block, so I can only delete it.

Mobile numbers are recycled after a period of time. This probably refers to a previous owner of the number. Anyway this type of debt cannot be enforced by a text message. If you really do have a debt they would have to contact you by registered mail.
