I wonder if anyone can give some advice here.
My Friend in her early 80's has a Dell Tower Computer still running Windows XP and Outlook Express. She is having problems sending Emails through her provider "AOL" . This company in America is not giving any Email support during this Coronavirus Pandemic. Phone support is only for US & Canada Subscribers. She can download new Emails with no problems at all. Only Send is a problem. She is using Google Chrome and we have cleared out her History & Cache as they suggested on the AOL Website. Can anyone suggest or recommend a short solution or Fix to this problem. I have had a look at Windows Live mail(old version) compatible with Windows XP or OE Classic similar to MailBird or Thunderbird. These maybe a possibilty but need some expert advice here to make a decision for her.
Many Thanks
David

Re: Outlook Express & Windows XP
Looks like an issue with whatever smtp (outgoing) mail server is configured within the app.
When the message fails to send is some form of error message displayed? Or does the mail appear to send and a mail message saying delivery failure is returned?

Re: Outlook Express & Windows XP
You could create a gmail account then configure outlook express to use googles smtp server and use your gmail user/password to authenticate and send mail.
No need to change any other Outlok settings for downloading received email, nor change her current email address.

Re: Outlook Express & Windows XP
Basically means that there is a problem connecting with the smtp server in order to send mail. Could be an issie with the pc, or AOLs smtp server.
Have any changes been made to the pc recently, eg antivirus, firewall settings etc, outlook settings?
Do AOL have an alternative smtp server that you could try?
Using google as mentioned before, but only for outgoing settings should work around it unless there are other issues with the pc

Hi pensure1988,
You could follow the procedures for error code you posted............Examples
0X800CCC0B
http://windowsdiscussions.com/windows-x ... 03020.html
0X800CCC0F
https://www.mailenable.com/kb/content/a ... D=ME020376
OR the best solution is the one c-b..........Posted
I'd go full on and use gmail to receive and send your mail from your mail provider......it will still send out mail with your original email address.
This is the way I use my gmail account.
