One in a car ???

Postby Parilla » Wed Mar 18, 2020 7:21 am

Can anyone give a definitive answer on the emergency regs and number of bodies allowed in a vehicle ?

Is it actually just one, or is that just the opinion of the weird bloke down the pub ?

Good morning Parilla and 1Bassleft,

We had a "Informa" on Town Hall headed paper yesterday... well virtual as it came by WhatsApp.

You can have two (2) people in a five seater car if one sits in the rear opposite side to driver.

I'll dig out the original Spanish bit about the above later.

According to this, only one person in a car (the driver) except in certain circumstances:

Intetesting article, particularly the section regarding closure of itv stations. My car was booked for a test next week as it expires on the 27th. So it appears that the need for a current itv is suspended for the duration of the lockdown. However say the lockdown does end in 15 days what will be the situation then. You already needed to book a test a month or so in advance, but there will also be a huge backlog from the lockdown period to catch up with. So it could be some time before i can get an appointment. Will i legally be able to drive the car in between times?

Our mot was booked for the 27th .i presume you will be able to drive it. As long as you are staying local.tbh its not like people will be going far. And the guardia will have more important things to worry about..just gonna keep an eye on the itv site for updates cause heck knows how they are gonna organise it.maybe they will reopen as other areas havnt shut.

Seen loads of two people in cars. Work shares? Going shopping?. If its two family members who live together or work share then i dont see what the difference is. Very unfair to those who dont drive. Even just staying in the car while the other shops is "getting out"

Just spoke with linea directa and they assured me that my insurance will be unaffected by the lack of a current itv while the emergency measures are ongoing.

Surely this is to make it easier for the policia to, well police movement. There are very few reasons why people should be driving around. A driver can shop, it isn't rocket science. The tricky thing is that after a while there will be "slippage" in obedience of the quarantine - more and more people may start getting out of the house, even making ten trips a day to the shops for example, making the separation a nonsense.

Hi ,
Looks like its been amended to one, driver in car...............

" The Government has modified Royal Decree RD 463/20 so that from midnight on March 18, 2020, only the driver will be able to circulate the car, prohibiting travel with companions. In case of not complying with this rule, the sanction could amount to a minimum amount of 300 euros, and a maximum of 1,000 euros."

We drove to Malaga airport from our pueblo near Ronda yesterday morning to catch a rescue flight back to the UK, as there were the two of us we expected to be stopped by the Guardia but didn't see any of them!!

Does this also apply to taxis, which are still operating ?

Why don’t you just read the link I posted?

Sometimes I wonder why I bother to post useful information.

I did read the link but I hardly consider the"seaside gazette" who stated "we have just spoken to a taxi driver" to be official information !

Just one in a taxi unless young children or elderly going to hospital who need help. Obviously plus the driver.

I read that nobody is allowed in the front of a taxi with the driver.
