Re: Building and DIY translations
Ok, finally remembered to check !
It is manufactured by MORCEM, and is called 'mortero para rejuntado'/'junta universal' (both phrases on the bag). Ours is a 5kg heavy duty white plastic bag, which we got from the local tile shop (the local builders merchants don't sell it and sent us to the tile shop!). Oh yes, and it can be used externally
Hope this answers your question

Re: Building and DIY translations
What is the Spanish for pallet i.e. the things bricks come on and are commonly used to raise things off the floor of leaky garages ?
Will builders yards typically give them away or is the exchange of funds more normal.
If the latter how much should I expect to pay?

Re: Building and DIY translations
I have not heard of them being given away and usually a small charge is applied when they deliver a pallet of goods, which is refundable when the pallets are returned
Re: Building and DIY translations
Funnily enough, I've just bought three! I wanted some logs from the local garden centre and he sold me three really good (none of yer plywood rubbish) ones for 5 euros each. Reading this back, it sounds as though I bought them instead of logs. Not so - they were to put the logs on to keep them off the wet ground.

La paleta.
Builders providers charge up to 15 euro for the strong pallets but businesses in industrial estates seem to leave the basic pallets out as rubbish.

€15 deposit at our builders merchants in Pizarra, never changed in the last 10 years. That's the big heavy jobs mind you...don't know about the flimsy type.

Just be careful which shop you are in - a paleta is also one of those cured hams (paleta Iberico) and/or an ice lolly made with fruit - particularly in Mexico & South America, therefore also in Hispanic parts of the US.

Is it just me or is the above link not working. If anyone can point me to a similar source, I would be grateful.Campo Kenny wrote:Good little list for basic DIY and building terms a friend passed to us a while back...........it's helped us at the ferriterias on a few occasions.

Hi vinuela vinny,
The site has been removed from the leader board (ie www).........
Nudging this thread to the top unfortunately will not bring it back.
Sites come and go..........if you really want to save info you need to copy it to your system and back it up.

Re: Building and DIY translations
There are many cheap and awful brands of caucho around.
A really high quality one is Antigotteras, by TKrom, sold at Pinturas Andalucia, amongst others.
Available in terracotta, white and blue. Apply by brush or roller. For roofs, or as an impermeable membrane, a few coats can produce a rubbery thickness of several mm very easily.
In white, it makes a fabulously durable non-slip pool surround paint, which withstands jetwashing.

Just done our flat roof and was advised to get the paint con fibra. It is really thick. Don't know if it has done the trick yet as it hasn't rained!

Re: Building and DIY translations
You will not regret it...it's brilliant! Much better than ordinary Caucho.
