Like the title says, where's the best border crossing, and no Im not dodging customs or anything, I believe in running with the law not against it but you know how some of these latinos can be, unpack the whole lot etc etc, and that wont be fun with a full caravan and van with two dogs in it, imagine 1'o clock in the morning and its freezing outside
Any tips, ideas would be appreciated
Cheers

Best border crossing from France into Spain

We tend to cross the Bilbao side. From the south west of France, but we have never been stopped nor do I know of anyone who has, but there is always a first. Borders are all open, EU and all that, Plus we travelled with two dogs, two cars both full with a loaded trailer. Trailer was in weight limit just in case though.
Be careful through Madrid, there appears to be gangs looking for foreign cars, I know three people robbed when either stopped or one poor lady was pulled over by what she though was unmarked police car, took all her money.
We had a very uneventful trip and I did Bilbao to Albunol in one hit.
Have a good trip

Do be careful with the vehicle weight, I was stopped just over the border in Spain and taken to a weigh bridge in the middle of the night, we were only slightly over and they let us go but I understand they can demand payment in cash and will escort you to the nearest cash machine, althouh these days the borders are sometimes hard to detect they can still impose checks, I went to Portugal last summer for the European Championships and the Portugese police decided to put a block and stop and search everyone it took ages to get through but this is rare, by the way the only time anyone took any interest in my dogs documentation was at the ferry check in at Dover, apart from that there was not anyone to show them too !!! have a good trip...

Story in el mundo today about this.
Thanks for link Kevin77 interesting, the lady I wrote about was driving of all cars, a Smart car and she is not the smallest of people, also in her seventies.
The riffled her bag, thankfully, left the credit cards but took all the cash, She said she should have realised they were not Police as they went around to the passenger side, and did not go to her side at all. Re the weight, as stated make sure you are within it, we were, but trailer was still well loaded, and as previously said no problem. Have a good trip, very, very wet here at the moment.

On the issue with being attacked, I think I'll keep a good length of piping or two at hand, come to think of it I have a nice section of aluminium tubing that will do just the job.
Im also seriously considering doing a convoy get together, safety in numbers is the best solution, any idea where this is done on the net
