Editors Corner

By Chris Chaplow

This year celebrates its 15th Birthday. Thanks to our editorial team, we are currently adding and updating more content on the site than we have ever done in the whole decade-and-a-half of our history.

One section that I, personally, was pleased to update after too long, was the statistics section. It was a mammoth task to retrieve all the published statistical data. While the local media is full of articles highlighting tourism statistics and airport arrivals, quoting percentage increases on previous years as good or bad news, this section aims to provide a true perspective and historical references to help you cut through the spin and find the raw data you're looking for. You will also find it an interesting browse. I will be adding more economic info soon, but in the meantime check out the annual GDP of Andalucia right back to 1980, and you will see why current times are proving so challenging for businesses in the region.

Our high summer features include the Malaga Feria, Family Tourism and Kids, and Creamfields Andalucia in its new location of Jerez. Don't forget to check out our constantly updated What's on Guide. This recently revamped section highlights the best upcoming events around the region, as well as offering full listings of music, sporting, cultural, and business events - plus those all-important fiestas, of course. As a new feature, each event now has links to venue location, website and social media, while you can purchase tickets for many events online.

Our team is extremely proud of the comprehensive, independent guide to Andalucia which we offer. Over the past 15 years we have encouraged literally thousands people to visit the region, we have served as a reliable guide for residents and tourists alike, and we have provided a platform for many businesses to promote themselves worldwide. And we continue to fulfil these three important roles, always adding more informative and entertaining content to keep up with Andalucia's changing landscape.

As I write this, the sun is streaming though my office windows, and a fleet of small yachts is dancing by on the Med. Come visit this wonderful region and experience its magic for yourself.

Have a great summer!
