info re water rights ?
info re water rights ?
Does anyone know where/which office has details of water rights for a property? I was looking through the escritura for this place recently ... and the Nota Simple Informativa ... descripcion de la finca ... first paragraph begins: ' Rustica - Suerte de tierra de regadio ...' I should have realised that this place, originally a flour mill, would have rights to water ...otherwise it could not function ... there is still an acequia/water channel behind the house ... and I have kept the old iron & wood water wheels and various pieces of machinery ... the pozo is being used as splash pool ... so there is still clear evidence of the origins of this place ... I would be interested to know what exactly 'tierra de regadio' means in relation to this mill eg how much water, when, for how long etc ... ( all this being somewhat academic if there is no water !) ... but it would be very interesting to know details ... ?would I have to go to a laywer specialising in water rights ... or is there an office I could go to with the escritura to find that information?
Re: info re water rights ?
Does it mean you have the right to water or is it just stating it is irrigated land? I was always under the impression that rustic land was designated as irrigated or dry, but I may be wrong.

Wicksey wrote 'Does it mean you have the right to water or is it just stating it is irrigated land? ' ... I dont know what it means!!! ... I only know that the water channel here was not for irrigation but to guide said water to the water tower where it poured down 2 'chimneys' and turned the horizontal wheels underneath which in turn turned the grinding stones to turn wheat to flour ... I dont know if there used to be a separate catagory for water for mills ...
