After last year's influx of " Tiger" mosquitos which caused huge skin eruptions and blisters, I have noticed this year that the mosquitos are much smaller and tend to give a mild " nip" which itches for a couple of hours and then fades. I have just had one land on my hand and even before I could swat it with my other hand it had done the deed and I now have an itchy hand! Little blighters!
I think they are also so small that they are almost silent. Not like the Tiger ones which sounded like a Chinook!!

The local government in Malaga were spraying all alongside the Guadalhorce river to try to get rid of the lava where the tigers mossi breed. Massive problem in some areas of the city.

Re: Mosquitos
What a coincidence, the Mrs read an article out to me yesterday saying Spain was having a bit of a time with Mossies, it said the unattended pools of holiday home owners there is adding to the problem. Makes sense as I know what ours was like after a few months away before we got someone to look after it.

Re: Mosquitos
I have just checked our neighbour's pool which is now a dark green colour. I have put in some chlorine granules, but as a last resort I will employ 5 litres of cooking oil into it - that should mess up the mossies breeding habits!

Re: Mosquitos
No I wasn’t. It’s a last resort if the chlorine doesn’t work. The owner is happy with that. The house is now unused and the pool has a design problem where it will not fully empty.

Re: Mosquitos
It's what they do in third world countries to control them in swamps and ponds. They used to use DDT, but that was banned. Now kerosine or paraffin is used.
