Semana Santa in Cadiz

Semana Santa in Cádiz province is celebrated with great fervour and passion. The provincial capital, Cádiz, holds tremendous, extravagant processions - on par with those of all the other provincial capitals in Andalucia.

Certain towns make an extra effort at Semana Santa and are, therefore, worth a special visit. These are: El Puerto de Santa María, Jerez de la Frontera, Arcos de la Frontera and Chiclana de la Frontera.

The town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda could be of special interest to those wishing to view artefacts of historic interest. It was declared a "Fiesta of National Touristic Interest" in the year 2002. This is a government stamp of approval that simply accredits a celebration of interest to tourists because it truly displays Andalucian culture, history, gastronomy or some other aspect of the traditions of this region.
