Dog walking during the lockdown
Are there national guidelines for dog walking, or is it down to local interpretation? Which probably means the interpretation of whoever you are speaking to at the time. I live in a small village, currently free of any infection, and the Guardia here seem to feel that it is barely permissible, with friends being told 'do it in your garden, or 'go home', 'you are too far away from home'.
I am keen to get on with my vecinos, and do not want to make waves, but the dog has to be walked, and it seems to me to be the activity least likely to spread a virus. The lack of clarity is spoiling what could be a pleasant escape from the strange times in which we find ourselves.

Like us humans, dogs must do without outdoor exercise. They are allowed out for "physiological reasons, within 50 metres from the home" - in other words they can *beep* a leg and cr@p. You must carry poobags and some water to rinse off urine deposits.

I have seen 100m quoted, but I'm not sure the rules are that exact. They say something like a sensible distance, as short as possible and only only long enough for them to satisfy their physiological requirements and away from other people.

I think the police are flexible as long as its the dog taking a pi++ and not the owner.

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

It looks like my original question has been answered, the rules are local.
Thanks to all for their input. I'm not sure who I feel sorry for the most, the dog or myself!

In all of this there is a mix of laws, rules and advice. You read things like "you must only shop once a week, in your nearest supermarket" which I cannot find in the law.

Re: Dog walking during the lockdown
My dog and I were approached by the policia local this morning who asked where I lived. I was about 400m from my home and I told them my address. He said "cerca la casa". I asked how many metres, in the light of this thread, and he said "It's not metres, it's close to the house".
We parted with me appearing to be suitably chastened.
What I didn't tell him was that I had left the house, walked across the road into the olive groves and walked a 2 mile circuit before getting back on the road where he found me!

The Guardia are probably related to the shop owner. Great for business!

Re: Dog walking during the lockdown
15 minutes for us I was told when they saw me for a second time!
But then there's the walk to the basura....then the one to the recycling......then it's lunchtime and another "physiological" excursion. The "man on the Clapham omnibus" doesn't seem to figure in Spanish law!
