On-line banking

Postby Enrique » Thu Feb 02, 2012 7:53 pm

Hi,
You may want to tighten up on the way you use on-line banking.........

Looking at Rapport seems a good way to go...........as used by some A.com members...... :D

Don't use the most common browsers, for a start, they are the ones that the criminals attack first.
Rapport has been going for years. I recommend it.

Change passwords from time to time, at least 6 monthly, don't use real words.
Use a random password generator, then change it's output by a couple of letters.

Internet security is helped greatly by using common sense, and never using a password for more than one application, especially where money is concerned.
Some people I know use the same passwords for email accounts, forums, ebay etc.

My online bank account introduced Rapport about a year ago,it works very well reminding you if you use the same password for another function.

My bank has just introduced Rapport/Trusteer, so I downloaded it and it immediately slowed the machine down to a crawl. That was obviously a known problem as when I then un-installed it, a pop-up box invited me to give them feedback with several of the options to tick as a reason for uninstalling referring to slow speed/frozen internet connections/cpu usage etc etc.

Anyone else had this result?

Hi Trooperman,
What OS are you running :?: what physical memory has your system :?:

On windows 7 the RapportMgmtService.exe uses about .50%(point five) of my cpu

Install it again and check with Task Manager what is going on.

It's Windows XP Home service pack 3 with 1 GB of RAM

Is that what you meant?

OK I can always try again as it's easy enough to un-install

Same here, downloaded it when 1st introduced (12-18 months ago?) which completely stuffed my system (XP) and haven't tried it since.

Banco Popular have just introduced a new system for international transfers where when you have entered the transfer they text you a pin to your mobile which you then enter to confirm the transaction.

I use Rapport for my UK Natwest account and haven't had any problems with W7

Unicaja do that for a lot of online transfers now (as well as the code from a matrix card!), so you need a Spanish mobile for them to text to, or you can't complete the transaction

Luckily I have one, but there's usually a mad dash to find it and put it on charge so I can receive the text

Good advice WH, I use different 12 digit passwords, randomly generated by RoboForm.

Test your passwords here: http://howsecureismypassword.net/

I run Rapport for online banking. I also have a screen capture program, this does not work when I am logged in to my bank account.

Does anybody know if Rapport prevents screen captures?

I'm surprised to hear of problems with Rapport, I don't even know it is running unless it puts an advice up. I'm using a HP G61 laptop with Windows7 but it was also fine on my old tower Pentium 166 with 2GB ram.

Hi Trooperman,

It also made Vista run like a dog ....... I unistalled it.

I've now upgraded to Win 7 and from the comments ...... I might give it another go.
