Malaga city has one of the best combined offerings for visitors: great beaches, excellent tapas bars, good shopping, superb museums - so what better way to round off a day of culture, eating out and walks along the seafront than with a "gintonic" on a rooftop terrace?

Many hotels and hostels in the city now boast these wonderful bars with fabulous views and lively atmosphere, and you can even find one in a museum. Most have a contemporary feel, with sleek furniture, wooden decking and glass walls, for optimum vistas of the city.

Malaga Skate Park - Tony Hawk Birdhouse Exhibition

Over 1,500 people braved the scorching Malaga summer on Sunday 19 July 2015 to watch the world's most influential skateboarder, Tony Hawk, perform live in the city's new skatepark. Malaga was chosen as one of just six stops on the acclaimed Birdhouse European Vacation tour (Birdhouse is Hawk's own skateboarding brand, named for his surname).

Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Malaga (FYCMA)

Málaga Palacio de Ferias y Congresos (FYCMA) is a conference centre situated to the west of Malaga city. The building itself is a modern architectural marvel, designed by Angel Asenjo, with a maritime theme. The roof represents waves with a giant fish swimming in them. Its mish-mash of colours, shapes and materials, including Guggenheim Bilbao-style metal pannelling, make it a spectacular sight. The building was commissioned, and is now run, by Málaga Town Hall.

University of Málaga (UMA)

Málaga University is the Institute of Higher Education in Málaga. It is a relatively modern university set on two campuses. It is one of the most popular Universities in Spain, and especially Andalucía, famous for its affiliation with the Andalucía Technology Park (PTA). As a relatively new establishment, it is constantly growing and improving.

Malaga City History

3.000 years ago the Phoenicians landed in Málaga, they called it MALACA (probably from the word malac - to salt) and they used the harbour as an important centre for salting fish. They built the fortress overlooking Málaga - now replaced by the Alcazaba, the interesting archaeological museum housed in the Moorish Castle, beneath this fortress contains Phoenician pottery excavated from the fortress and nearby burial grounds.

Malaga City - Schools

Sunland International School opened in September 2001 on a spacious countryside campus close to Cartama Estacion, near Málaga University and the Scientific and Technological Park of Andalucia. The School is no more than 25 minutes from eastern and central Málaga, Torremolinos, Benalmádena-Costa, Churriana, Alhaurin, Pizarra or Coin.
