Seville

Food & Drink in Seville

This historic city attracts food lovers from far and wide — after all, it's where the tapa was invented. Excellent meals are never far away, whether tapas or large sharing plates (raciones), in a traditional tiled bar or a modern gastro joint. Seville is famous for its cuisine, which boasts superb seafood platters as well as traditional recipes with multicultural origins, such as espinacas con garbanzos (spinach and chickpeas). It's always worth checking the menu or blackboard for the specials of the day.

Seville City - Guest Photo Blog

Seville City - Guest Photo Blog by Michael Barbatulus. I've been already been to Spain many times and visited different places. I love travelling and taking photos, exploring paths in old towns, finding beautiful hidden places and, at the end of a long day, trying lovely local food.

Huelva; British Influence - Itineraries from Seville airport

Itinerary: - Seville - Monasterio La Cartuja - Sierra de Aracena - Rio Tinto - Punta Umbria - Huelva - (2 days)

In Seville, go to the Isla Cartuja and see the Monasterio de Santa Maria de las Cuevas, with its old ceramics factory built by Charles Pickford. The factory is long out of use, but the tall brick chimneys are one of Seville's most famous landmarks, and the gardens and courtyards are shady and peaceful after the bustle of the city.

Districts or Barrios of Seville City

Seville has very distinct areas, or barrios, from the historic Barrio Santa Cruz, to bohemian Alameda, and down-to-earth Triana. This is our guide to the main areas which you will want to visit in the city.

Backpacking - Seville

Seville is unsurprisingly the most touristy destination in Andalucia. The signs are obvious: the shops are open at convenient times, the waiters approach agreeable, and there's the sweet smell of horse manure everywhere you go.

Seville City - Expo 29

Seville held two Exposiciones Universales (known as Expos for short) in the 20th century: one in 1929 - Expo 29; and one in 1992, the same year as the Barcelona Olympics - Expo 92 (note the numerical inversion).

The most popular way to get to Seville is by Plane, High Speed AVE Train, Car Hire in Seville, Malaga or Madrid and coach service from Madrid or Malaga.

Seville City - The Hospital de La Caridad

The Hospital de la Santa Caridad (Holy Charity Hospital)  is a 15th century baroque charity hospital, home to the Hermandad de la Santa Caridad (Brotherhood of Holy Charity). Located at the southern end of the Atarazanas (Royal Shipyards) in the Arenal neighbourhood, it has some superb artworks by Golden Age painters such as Murillo, Zurbaran and Valdes Leal.
