Mijas Pueblo Bus Services

Mijas Pueblo doesn't have a bus station as such, however there is a main bus stop on Avenida Virgen de la Peña, just down from the Mijas Town Hall building. The routes below cover Mijas Pueblo and Las Lagunas. See also Mijas Costa timetables.

Things to see in Mijas village

The Church of the Immaculate Conception, This pretty village church was build in between the mid 16th and early 17th Century on the ruins of an ancient Moorish castle, using one of the towers as the church bell tower. In the early 1990's some restoration work uncovered frescos dating from1632 depicting the Apostles.

Festivals in Mijas Pueblo

On the evening of the 5th of January there is a procession (Cabalgata), when the Three Kings parade through the streets on colourful floats. Sweets are thrown to the many children lining the streets. The 6th of January is traditionally the day that children are given their Christmas presents in Spain and so this is a big day for them and the whole family.

Candlelight Summer - 2023

Attracting holidaymakers from all over the world, the Costa del Sol has become one of Europe´s top holiday destinations, and offers visitors some shows, live entertainment and cabaret acts. The 'shows' tend to concentrate on Torremolinos and Benalmadena where there are more foreign tourists. Comedy club acts in Spanish are found occasionally in Malaga City and Seville.

Monasterio de la Cartuja

This large, walled complex of honey-coloured stone buildings, situated on the Isla la Cartuja (named after the monastery itself; the word means “charterhouse”), has seen many ups and downs during its long, dramatic history. From monks who welcomed Christopher Columbus, to barracks for Napoleon’s troops, ceramic factory run by an Englishman producing world-renowned porcelain, to modern-day contemporary art gallery and open-air live music venue.

Zahara de los Atunes

Zahara de los Atunes is one of the most charming, and fashionable, towns on the Cadiz Costa de la Luz. With a stunning beach, boasting crystal-clear waters and golden sand, Zahara's main advantage over some other beach resorts in the area, which consist largely of hotels (albeit low-rise) and restaurants lining a beachfront road, is its villagey feel.

Agua Amarga

Agua Amarga is a pretty fishing village and beach resort on the Almeria coast, in Cabo de Gata-Nijar natural park, with a population of just 400. Still undiscovered by large-scale tourism, this is one of Andalucia's hidden seaside treasures. While its name may translate as Bitter Water, this delightful, laid-back beach town has excellent Mediterranean cuisine, good independent boutiques and trendy bars.

Fuente de Piedra Natural Reserve

In the north of Malaga province 19km from Antequera is the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, a famous beautiful lagoon. The largest natural lake in the Iberian Peninsula at 2.5km wide and 6.5km long, it is a haven for birds with over 170 different species recorded here.

Manilva Beaches

There is a small, 100m-wide cove hidden by cliffs and rocks each side. Thanks to a good chiringuito it's an ideal getaway in the summer. The beach is fairly crowded during the summer and especially at weekends; parking access is especially difficult.

All vehicles in Spain must periodically undergo a technical inspection. There are 50 odd inspection points in Andalucia, with service more readily available in heavily populated areas. The schedule your vehicle is required to follow will depend on the date it was first licensed. Following are the year 2003 schedules for different types of vehicles.

Property for sale in Jimena

Jimena de la Frontera is a classic example of a traditional Andalusian pueblo blanco (white village), with all of the character that one can expect. The village is situated next to the Alcornocales Natural Park to the west, with open fields and green spaces of countryside to the east.

El Cable

El Cable beach is approximately 400m long. It is situated to the east of the Fishing Port whose breakwater bounds the beach. This beach is very busy as it is a popular destination for summer holiday visitors, it has slightly less Marbella glamour than other beaches in Marbella. It is a popular spot for younger people. It is a wide beach and does not have a paseo maritimo yet.
