Castillo de Arenas

Situated 1393m above sea level, the castle sits on the Cerro del Castillo de Puerta Arenas, in the Sierra de Alta Coloma, between Granada and Jaén. The Portillo del Río Campillo is the only practicable pass to cross this Sierra. The castle stands on an L-shaped ridge, whose ends are two promontories defended by cuts in the terrain. Today, the castle is in a ruinous state. Located north of the town, off the JV-2228.

Eat and Drink

The town of Rota has many small bars and cafés where you can enjoy a snack and drink. The area around the Puerto Deportivo is especially popular with both residents and visitors in the summer months.

Sierra Nevada Villages

The most popular village in Sierra Nevada is well-known amongst snowsports enthusiasts: Monachil being the home of Europe’s southernmost ski resort and the only ski resort in Andalucía. However, the attraction of the villages in this area is not limited to snow, as the majority of the area is part of the Sierra Nevada National Park.

Sierra Bermeja mountain

The Sierra Bermeja mountain (1.449m) dominates the landscape behind Estepona. There are few places in the world where a mountain reaches this height so close to the sea (10km) You can drive to near the top in under an hour. Take the road (Carretera Genalguacil) (MA-8301)

Sancti Petri - Novo Sancti Petri

Novo Sancti Petri's is the newer seafront town located to the south of the old town, with a new seafront promenade behind the magnificent beach Playa de La Barrosa. This beach actually stretches for 8km, from Sancti Petri village to Torre del Puerco, a defensive coastal tower dating from the 19th century.

Albánchez

Albánchez is known for its vast production of citrus fruits and pears. The main economic activity of the town, however, comes from the marble taken from the local quarries. It has around 750 inhabitants.

Festivals in Pinos Puente

The main festivals celebrated in Pinos Puente are Cabalgata Reyes Magos, La Candelaria, Carnival, Semana Santa, May Crosses, San Pascual Bailón, Feria de Agosto, Processsion of the Virgen de las Angustias.

Iznájar

Iznájar was transformed some decades ago by the construction of an embalse (reservoir) below the promontory on which Iznájar sits in the River Genil valley. Today, Iznájar feels as though it has a waterfront overlooking an inland sea some thirty kilometres long, and containing an estimated 900 million m³ of water destined for domestic consumption.

The cemetery is easy to find along the north side of Avenida de Pries, it is close to the Gran Hotel Malaga (was Hotel Miramar) and the bullring. From the Alameda Principal you can get Nº11 to English Cemetery.
