Juzgado de la Paz

The building that houses the Juzgado de la Paz (Justice of the Peace Court) is one of the town’s most emblematic buildings. It began operating on 21st February 1925, when the Sierra Nevada Tramway opened.

Acequia del Cadí

The community-operated acequia (irrigation ditch) was built in the Almohad period to supply and irrigate the Campo del Príncipe area. It is situated at a higher elevation than the area served by the Acequia Gorda branch.

Iglesia de la Virgen del Rosario

The earliest preserved document describing the Iglesia de la Virgen del Rosario (Church of The Virgin of the Rosary) dates back to the 16th century, specifically from 1572, in the Book of Surveys and Distribution of Cenes.

Atarazanas de Sevilla

The Atarazanas are Seville’s medieval Royal Shipyards in the Arenal district, formerly the port area. They are located about halfway between the Alcazar palace and the river, on the corner of calle Temprano and calle Dos de Mayo. The shipyards are currently closed to the public (January 2025), although long-standing plans for a cultural centre are predicted to be finished soon.

According to the latest municipal register (padron) the population of Andalucia on the 1st January 2025 was 8,437,000. This is provisional estimate. According to the municipal redister (padron) the population of Andalucia on the 1st January 2011 is 8,415,000. This is an increase of 13.6% from the 2001 National Census.

Marbella Bus services

Bus service operates from Marbella to Malaga Airport (AGP), Algeciras, Almería, Benahavís, Benalmádena, Cádiz, Coín, Córdoba, Estepona, Fuengirola, Granada, Jaén, La Línea, Málaga, Ojén, Ronda, San Pedro, Sevilla, Torremolinos and Madrid.

Sevilla City - Buses

There are two bus stations in Seville, both located in the city centre: the Prado de San Sebastian bus station which serves the rest of the Andalucia region and the Plaza de Armas bus station which links Seville to Huelva, other regions of Spain and even to Portugal

Ferries - Tarifa to Tangier, Morocco

The route between Tarifa (Cost de la Luz, Spain) and the buzzing city of Tangier Ville (Morocco) is the  recommended route for travellers. Frequent ferries also connect nearby Algeciras with Ceuta (Spanish enclave in North Africa) and Tangier MED which is the out-of-town port better suited for those driving south in Morocco. These hourly ferry crossings can be taken as an individual ticketed passenger or as part of a guided day tour or overnight excursions.

Estepona Bus Services

Estepona's new Bus Station opened in July 2014 and is located next door to the Exhibition and Congress Centre on Avenida del Litoral just beyond Carrefour hypermarket on the link to the A-7 coast road 1 km east of town center. The bus station houses the ticket office, toilets and waiting room. No cafeteria but there are vending machines.

Estepona - L-79 and L70 bus to Marbella

A half hourly L-79 bus service runs east to San Pedro and Marbella . This bus leaves from Avenida Juan Carlos and round Avenida Andalucia and stops outside Carrafour before travelling east to Marbella.

Christmas Festivals - Belen Viviente

One of the most delightful features of Christmas in Andalucia are the belenes vivientes, or living (live) nativity scenes, where many of the townsfolk dress up as characters to take part, using the town's streets, houses and plazas as their stage set, starring alongside four-legged actors - sheep and donkeys. Cadiz province is famous for its belenes vivientes.
