Alto Guadalquivir Natural Area

The Alto Guadalquivir Natural Area comprises three reservoirs (embalses) covering 663ha, which are situated along the upper reaches of the Guadalquivir river. To the east is the largest one, the Embalse de Puente La Cerrada, in the middle is the Embalse de Doña Aldonza and to the west is the smallest reservoir, the Embalse de Pedro Martín.

Lighthouse

A lighthouse has stood on the natural limestone headland known as Punta Doncella at the west end of La Rada beach in Estepona since an 8,5 metre structure was completed by engineer Antonio Molina in 1863. The original olive oil burning lamp was purchased from Sautter the French maker. It was replaced in 1882 by a paraffin 'Maris' lamp and then by a petrol one in 1904.

Estepona - Giant Slide

The Estepona Giant Slide (Estepona Tobogán in Spanish) is a 38m stainless steel slide and tourist attraction, located on Calle Eslovakia just off the Avenida del Mar propeller roundabout, between the entrance to the Marina and the Rainbow Steps.

When it opened on 9 May 2019, the slide it became famous immediately, thanks to coverage on social media and Spanish national TV news. It closed on 10 May. 

Macael

Macael is famous for its marble quarries, from which 80% of all Spanish marble is extracted today. Substantial monuments such as the El Escorial Monastery, the Mezquita of Córdoba and the Alhambra in Granada have been constructed with this marble, but the material is also used for local projects, with marble statues lining the streets and squares of the town, which has around 5,400 inhabitants.

Hotel Casas del Rey de Baeza

A perfectly preserved example of a traditional Sevillano corral de vecinos (houses built around a central patio), this hotel is exquisitely decorated with understated good taste; the two courtyards feel thoroughly authentic, with cobblestone floors, baskets of oranges, rolled-up esparto grass blinds, sea-blue wooden balconies with winding plants, and potted geraniums on the wall.

Marismas del Río Palmones

The 58ha Marismas del Río Palmones Natural Area is one of the last remaining patches of what used to be extensive marshlands (marismas) in the Bahía de Algerciras, the bay between Algeciras and Gibraltar. From the early 1970s onwards, increasing industrial and housing development encroached upon the marismas of the Palmones and Guadarranque rivers.

Luis Gotor - Gaula

Luis Gotor is the singer, guitarist and songwriter of malagueño pop-rock band Gaula, which he formed with Jesus Muñoz (backing vocals and guitar) in summer 2007. Drummer Alejandro Alonso ‘Chicho’ joined soon after, and more recently, bassist Alejandro Muñoz. Gaula are currently promoting their third EP, Bailes y hurricanes.

The layout, designed by Aymerich Golf Management, follows the natural contours of the land situated between two rivers and the course is bordered part way by the Galería forest with its remarkable variety of indigenous trees. The greens are large with an average area of 641m2, the smallest being 450m2, and all of them generally incorporate gentle slopes.

Aguilar de la Frontera - History

Remains have been found and preserved from the Neolithic to the High Middle Ages, most of which, where Neolithic settlement sat the hillside of Cerro del Castillo. The Romans baptized the settlement with the name of Ipagro.

Sierra de las Nieves National Park

The Sierra de las Nieves National Park is located in the hills behind Marbella and to the east of the Ronda-Marbella road as it winds up the mountain along hairpin bends. The park centres on Mount Torrecilla (1909m) and covers an area of 30km by 20km or 18,530 hectares. The Sierra de las Nieves, formerly a natural park, was declared a National Park in January 2021 and formalised in May 2021.

Promenade

The Paseo Maritimo (seafront promenade) is ideal to experience and join the Spanish in the traditional "paseo". Flanked by pavement cafes, restaurants, this promenade is one of the most attractive on the Costa del Sol and has the added advantage of being within minutes of the centre of town.
