Antequera - Fact 4 - Climb every mountain
Within easy reach of Antequera you will find two amazing rock attractions: El Torcal park, with its extraordinary limestone rock formations, including la Copa (the wine glass), el Lagaro (the lizard) and la Loba (the she-wolf); and El Chorro gorge, sheer 400-metre rock walls, through which the river Guadalhorce flows. A popular walkway called the Caminito del Rey (the King's Path - originally opened by Alfonso XIII) offers spectacular views and is fully restored and open to the public, providing a safe and thrilling experience for visitors, though it is still not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo.
El Caminito del Rey has welcomed nearly 3 million visitors, more than half (52%) of whom are foreigners. The trail's continued popularity has generated a significant economic impact in the Guadalhorce Valley, demonstrating its status as a must-see attraction in Andalusia.
