Centro Cultural José Saramango
The José Saramago Cultural Center originated as a foundation established in 2004 by José Saramago, Pilar del Río, the Town Hall, the Granada Provincial Council, and the University of Granada. Among its aims are those focused on preserving and disseminating the life and work of José Saramago and, at the same time, promoting the values of coexistence and tolerance that characterized his life. In this sense, the activities carried out by the Center to date are particularly relevant, aimed at fostering culture, contributing to social welfare, improving education, and promoting intellectual progress, all under the principles of justice and equality. In addition to organizing exhibitions, lecture series, courses, visits, film screenings, and other events in both Castril and Granada, the Center also undertakes initiatives that combine social and cultural development, the recovery of tangible and intangible historical heritage, and the promotion of the local economy based on respect for the environment. The remodeled José Saramago Cultural Centre has recently been inaugurated, and it now has a modern internet access room. Located in Plaza Nueva.
