Sotogrande Sunday Craft Market

The Sunday Sotogrande Craft Market, officially known as the 'Mercado Histórico de Sotogrande' (Sotogrande Historical Market), is a high-end antiques and crafts market held every Sunday morning at Ribera del Marlin, near Sotogrande Marina. It is often referred to as the 'Historic Market' as it had humble beginnings soon after the marina opened in 1989. Initially held in and around the KE bar on the Avenida de la Marina and the plazas overlooking it, the market was relocated to the other end of the avenue, next to the Real Club Marítimo Sotogrande (yacht club), from 2002 to 2010 while the marina extension was under construction. Once these works were completed, the Sunday market returned to the marina near its original location. Upgraded to a premium craft, antique and flea market, it now overlooks the recently opened canals in an area that was called Blue Sotogrande for a time. The market now has 70 stalls.

(Jugarnia)

Jugania was a children's play area and a firm favourite among families. It consisted of a number of energetic rides and swings and castle and jumps. Opened in 2015 as part of the 'Mercado de Levante' project it was located at the entrance to Ribera del Marlín near Sotogrande Marina. It closed at this location in November 2021 and according to its website is still looking for a new location in Sotogrande.

(Mercardo del Levante)

Remember the Mercado del Levante?  Launched in Summer 2015 and continued in the summer 2016 and 2017 was the 'Mercardo del Levante'. This was an overarching brand name for a series of vintage food trucks, gourmet food stalls, restaurants, live music, drinks and cocktails that took place on summer evenings on the La Ribera del Marlin quay in Sotogrande marina area.

In 2016 the fashionable food trucks were a central theme. The dining or just drinking area was under a canopy and one choose either high bar stool style tables or waited to be seated at the more comfortable lounge table and chairs. One flexible detail was that the waiting staff would take your order from the different food trucks, whether it was burgers, sushi, Asian fusion or Andalucian. Ideal for mixed groups of friends with differing tastes.

This flexible idea was discontinued in 2017 and the food trucks were relocated down to the far end. Prices were slightly on expensive side, but made up for by location and atmosphere. Ideal for those staying in Sotogrande and visitors alike.

In Summer 2018 the food trucks and market concept was replaced by restaurants with terraces that were by now established in the Ribera del Marlin quay.  Whilst they offer a range of cuisine the interesting and innovative gourmet market experience has disappeared in favour of a quayside restaurant experience. The night market was reduced to Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

The Sotogrande Sunday Craft Market and the Sotogrande Summer Night market (see above) are still (correctly or incorrectly) referred to as the Mercado de Levante.
