The hotel comprises 125 spacious rooms in two categories; cosy and comfy at 48m2 and 36 suites in six categories from 48m2 to 258m2. All with rainfall shower and bath tub. There are three outdoor heated swimming pools; family, infinity and adult, plus the Spa's indoor pool. The rooms are bungalow style set within extensive landscaped gardens. The adjoining Spa is one of the largest on the Costa del Sol. The hotel is adjacent to the The Alto Club 18 hole golf course formerly called Almenara Golf.

Historical note
The hotel opened as the four-star NH Almenara Hotel in 1999, on the site of the former Cortijo de Santa María de la Higuera (farmhouse), one of the six estates that were merged to form Sotogrande in the 1960s. (Read the history of Sotogrande.) The hotel became the Almenara Hotel in Sotogrande, names after the mountains to the north. The name changed to NH Almenara in 2006 when the NH Group owned the Sotogrande estate. In late 2018, the hotel closed for a €30m, two-year refurbishment by Orion, the new owners of the Sotogrande estate. Robert Kmita was appointed as the opening general manager in preparation for the grand launch in July 2021 when the hotel management became SO/ Hotels and Resorts (formerly Sofitel) in partnership with Ennismore. SO/ is Accor’s most avant-garde luxury brand, and this is its first property in Spain. Delores Internationally renowned Spanish swimwear designer Dolores Cortés role at SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort Hotel was significant and went far beyond a typical design collaboration. She served as the hotel's Artist in Focus and was responsible for injecting her vibrant, fashion-forward style into the resort's entire aesthetic including staff uniforms, hotel logo,interior design through eclectic fabrics and art pieces and the chandelier hanging from the signature staircase and the bold mural in then spa reception. The resort was intended to reflect the brand’s "rebellious luxury". Stéphane Menou has been general manager at SO/ Sotogrande since summer 2022.
